After making his big screen debut in 1955 opposite James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause, Dennis Hopper was never too far away from controversy or cool. Although creative differences and personal demons marred a portion of his 55-year career, he was uniquely unconventional and always memorable.

Pop artist icon Andy Warhol chose the captivating Hopper as his subject on two occasions. His painting entitled “Dennis Hopper 1971″ and his “Dennis Hopper 1977, Unique Polaroid” photographs. After directing and starring in 1969′s Easy Rider, Hopper went into a bit of a career slide until a featured role in Apocalypse Now (1979). The visionary Warhol saw something in the underappreciated Hopper before the film industry would give him his due.

Our lasting impression of Hopper is when he starred as himself on episode 3, season 4 of Entourage.
